Movistar Car

Building the connected car leader in the Spanish market

Telefónica has been providing solutions for automotive OEMs for years, but industry technology cycles and the average age of cars in Spain (13.1 years according to the Anfac Annual report 2020) leaves more than 22 million cars unconnected, unable to easily access an emerging ecosystem of car services.

With the scalable platform, tailor-made app fully aligned with Telefónica’s customer experience and OBDII device developed by Net4things, Telefónica launched Movistar Car on an initial value proposition of 5 key pillars:

Connectivity:

in-car WiFi hotspot.

Safety & security:

automatic crash detection and emergency assistance.

Car status:

maintenance schedules and alerts about potential breakdowns.

Location and turn-by-turn navigation:

peace of mind and efficient traffic management.

Savings:

exclusive offers from third-party service providers.

What our client says

“Movistar Car is the result of incredible teamwork between Telefónica and Net4things. We are proud of the results achieved and the encouraging reaction from our customers and partners. Net4things is a committed, flexible partner, always open to new challenges.”

Spanish Police

Agility, efficiency and cost savings

In 2021 there were 921 fatal accidents on Spanish roads in which 1,004 people died and another 3,728 were seriously injured according to the provisional balance of the DGT. Net4things has provided the Spanish police with crash reports of connected vehicles to offer greater precision and provide agility and efficiency to clarify what exactly happened before, during and after the accident. The crash report serves as an important and reliable evidence that has validity in open legal cases as it reveals relevant information about the vehicle and the behaviour of the driver in that event.

This report generated from our Cross-Mobility Platform (XMP) shows:

Data on the impact and behavior of the driver.

Speed before and after the impact.

Acceleration forces from the accident.

G forces on the X, Y, Z axes.
